2023 Game Notes / Photos

Kloey Hamblen and Maizey Carpenter led the hitters with homeruns helping the Monarchs to a season opening win.  Peyton Hoelscher and Presley Ivener had 2 hits, with Morgan Byrd and Morgan Stock each hitting a double.  Carpenter also reach base twice on walks with Amanda Gibilisco Hamblen and Stock also walking.  Runs were scored by Hamblen, Carpenter, Ivener, Hoelscher, Stock, Kaylee Tanius and Kamira Botos.  Hamblen and Carpenter each had 2 runs batted in, with Ivener, Stock and Botos also getting an RBI. 

Carly Bertolini picked up the win in the circle with 4 innings pitched and 6 strikeouts.  Hamblen pitched the final inning and had two strikeouts.  

Amanda Gibilisco pitched 5 strong innings with 7 strikeouts in a close game.  Carly Bertolini pitched the final inning striking out 3.  

The Monarchs had only three hits with Morgan Byrd getting a double while Macey Butcher and Morgan Stock each getting a single.  Peyton Hoelscher reached base on a walk while Kloey Hamblen reached on a hit by pitcher.  Stock, Byrd and Hamblen each had a stolen base.  Alexa Taylor and Stock scored the Monarch runs with Byrd and Maizey Carpenter getting the RBI's.  

The Monarchs collected 5 hits but came up short against the Spartans.  

Kloey Hamblen had a triple, a sacrifice fly, a run and 2 RBI's to lead the Monarch hitters.  Morgan Byrd had a hit and a run, with Maizey Carpenter, Alexa Taylor and Kamira Botos getting the other hits.  Carpenter had a sacrifice fly to bring in a run.  Morgan Stock reach base on a hit by pitch and also scored.  Carly Bertloni (2 strikeouts), Amanda Gibilisco (2 strikeouts) and Hamblen (3 strikouts) shared the pitching duties.  

Kamira Botos and Amanda Gibilsco each had two hits to lead the Monarchs.  A late rally fell short as the Monarchs dropped to 2-2 on the short season. 

Botos has a double, 2 runs and 3 RBI's.  Gibilisco had 2 RBI's and a walk.  Presley Ivener doubled and had an RBI.  Other hits by Kloey Hamblen, Maizey Carpenter (double), Avery Wolfe and Morgan Stock.  Alexa Taylor had a walk, a run and an RBI.  Morgan Byrd has a walk and a run.  Carly Bertolin (1 strikeout) and Gibilisco split time in the circle. 

Game postponed and will be rescheduled

The Monarchs traveled to St. Joseph, Missouri to take on Blue Springs High School.  Both pitchers threw excellent games, but the Monarchs came up short on the score.  Carly Bertolini threw 6 innings with 3 strikeouts.  Presley Ivener (double), Macey Butcher and Peyton Hoelscher each picked up a hit, with Morgan Byrd getting a walk and a stolen base.  

Maizey Carpenter had a double and a triple, a stolen base and scored three runs.  Presley Ivener had 2 hits, a run and 2 RBI's.  Alexa Taylor had 2 hits, a stolen base, a run and and RBI.  Kaylee Tanius and Reese Haberer  picked up their first varsity hits.  Other hits by Kamira Botos, Kloey Hamblen (triple), Peyton Hoelscher, Amanda Gibilisco, Morgan Byrd and Macey Butcher.  Botos added a stolen base a run and an RBI.  Tanius and Butcher each had a stolen base and an RBI.  Hoelscher added an RBI.  Byrd had a walk, a stolen base, a run and an RBI.  Haberer and Bella Meyer-Koenig scored the other runs.  

Hamblen pitched a complete game 1 hitter with 5 strikeouts.

Kloey Hamblen and Presley Ivener each hit homeruns as the Monarchs pulled out the victory.  Carpenter also had a double, a run and 2 RBI's.  Hamblen added a single, 2 runs and 2 RBI's.  Ivener added a single, a run and 2 RBI's.  Morgan Stock had a hit, a stolen base and a run,  Alexa Taylor had a hit, a run and an RBI.  Avery Wolfe had a hit and a stolen base.  Morgan Burd had a hit and a run.  

Carly Bertolini  and Amanda Gibilisco split the pitching duties with Bertolini getting 3 strikeouts and was the winning pitcher. 

The Monarchs scored 5 runs in the top of the 5th and final inning to come from behind for the win.  Morgan Byrd had 3 hits including a homerun, with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI's to lead the team.  Kloey Hamblen added a single and a double, with a run and an RBI.  Peyton Hoelscher and Avery Wolfe each had 2 hits, a run and an RBI.  Morgan Stock had a hit, a a run and an RBI.  Alexa Taylor added a hit, a walk and a run.  Maizey Carpenter walked and scored.  Presley Ivener had 2 walks and a run.  Kamira Botos also scored a run.  

Amanda Gibilisco and Carly Bertolini split the pitching duties with Bertolini getting 3 strikeouts and the win.  Gibilisco had 2 strikeouts.

Carly Bertolini struck out 6 and earned the victory in the circle with last inning relief from Amanda Gibilisco.  

Amanda Gibilsco and Kloey Hamblen combined on a no-hitter.  Gibilsco earned the win and had 7 strikeouts, with Hamblen getting 2 strikeouts.  

Gibilisco also hit a 2 run homerun.  Presley Ivener hit a 3 run homerun, walked and scored once in addition to her homerun.  Other hits by Kamira Botos, Morgan Byrd, Morgan Stock, Maizey Carpenter and Hamblen.  Botos, Stock and Corryn Estelle reach base on walks.  Stock added a run and 2 RBI's.  Kaylee Tanius and Carpenter also had RBI's.  Other runs were scored by Botos, Byrd, Hamblen, Carly Bertolini, Bella Arriola and Bella Meyer-Koenig.

Morgan Byrd, Kloey Hamblen, Alexa Taylor and Avery Wolfe each had two hits as the Monarchs lost a close game to the Mustangs.  Byrd had 2 doubles, reached base on a walk, scored once and had an RBI.  Taylor had 2 RBI's.  Wolfe added a stolen base, a run and an RBI.  Kamira Botos and Peyton Hoelscher each doubled and scored.  Presley Ivener had a hit and an RBI.  Maizey Carpenter picked up the other Monarch hit and also scored.  

Carly Bertolini started the game in the circle and struck out 3 hitters.  Amanda Gibilisco pitched in relief and had 7 strikeouts.  

Avery Wolfe had two hits including a double and a homerun and added another run.  Maizey Carpenter also two hits, adding a walk with 2 runs and 2 RBI's.  Other hits by Alexa Taylor (two runs, a walk and an RBI), Reese Haberer, Morgan Byrd (RBI), Presley Ivener, Peyton Hoelscher and Kamira Botos (run, 2 RBI and a stolen base).  Morgan Stock reached base on a walk and a hit by pitch and scored twice.  

Carly Bertolini pitched the first 5 innings with 5 strikeouts and earning the win.  Amanda Gibilisco pitched the final inning striking out 1.

Amanda Gibilisco pitched 4 innings and had 4 strikeouts to earn the win in the circle.  Carly Bertolini pitched two innings with 1 strikeout for the save.  

The Monarchs earned the victory in the semi-final round of the Metro Conference Tournament.   

Maizey Carpenter hit 2 doubles, reached base on a walk, scored 3 times and drive in a run to pace the Monarchs.  Kloey Hamblen had 2 hits and also scored 3 runs.  Presley Ivener had 2 hits including a triple, a walk, 2 runs and 2 RBI's.  Morgan Byrd hit a double, reached based on a walk, had a stolen base, scored twice and had 2 RBI's.  Kamira Botos drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.  Alexa Taylor had a hit and a run.  Morgan Stock had a hit and a stolen base.  Avery Wolfe scored once and Macey Butcher had 2 RBI's.  

Carly Bertolini pitched a complete game for the win with 2 strikeouts.  

Championship Game - Metro Conference Tournament

Amanda Gibilisco matched Gretna's pitcher inning for inning until the Dragons broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 5th inning.  She finished with 6 strikeouts.  Carly Bertolini pitched 2/3 of an inning and struck out 1.  The Monarchs finished runner up in the annual Metro Conference tournament.  

Kloey Hamblen had 2 of the Monarchs 3 hits topped off with her 5th homerun of the season.  Hamblen also had a stolen base.  Morgan Byrd had the other hit.  Avery Wolfe reached base on a walk. 

The Monarchs score all 14 runs in the second inning for the win over the Storm.  4 players hit homeruns in the inning.  Every player in the starting lineup had at least one hit.  Morgan Byrd and Kloey Hamblen each had 3 hits, including homeruns.  Peyton Hoelscher and Maizey Carpenter each had 2 hits.  Morgan Stock hit her first varsity homerun.  Presley Ivener also homered.  Other extra base hits by Carpenter (2 doubles), Hamblen (double), Hoelscher (double), Avery Wolfe (double) and Kamira Botos (double).  Other hit by Alexa Taylor.  Byrd led the team with 4 RBI's, with Hamblen, Carpenter, Ivener and Stock each getting 2.  Other RBI's by Alexa Taylor and Botos.  Hamblen, Taylor, Carpenter and Hoelscher each scored twice with the other runs by Ivener, Byrd, Wolfe, Stock and Botos.  Carpenter also reach base on a walk.  

Carly Bertolini earned the win in the circle on a 2 hitter with 5 strikeouts.

Amanda Gibilisco threw a complete game 4 hitter with 5 strikeouts to earn the win for the Monarchs.  Morgan Byrd was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, a stolen base, 2 runs and 3 RBI's.  Kamira Botos had 2 hits, a stolen base, a run and an RBI.  Maizey Carpenter, Kloey Hamblen, Morgan Stock and Presley Ivener had the teams other hits.  Hamblen also walked, had a stolen base scored twice and drove in one.  Carpenter added a stolen base and a run.  Ivener had 2 stolen bases, a run and an RBI.  Avery Wolfe reached base on a walk, had a stolen base and scored a run.  Stock also scored.  

District A-3 Tournament: Game 1

 Kamira Botos and Kloey Hamblen each had two hits to lead the Monarch offense.  Botos had a triple, added a stolen base and an RBI.  Hamblen also reached base on a walk, scored a run and had an RBI.  Maizey Carpenter had a hit a walk, 2 stolen bases and scored twice.  Morgan Byrd doubled and drove in a run.  Avery Wolfe doubled, scored once and had 2 RBI's.  Morgan Stock hit a triple, scored once and had 2 RBI's.  Peyton Hoelscher walked and scored.  Bella Jaros scored and Kaylee Tanuis and Alexa Taylor each had a stolen base as pinch runners.  Presley Ivener scored once and had an RBI.  Reese Haberer ended the game with a double that drove in 2 runs.  

Amanda Gibilisco pitched a 1 hit shutout with 9 strikeouts for the pitching win, and also doubled, walked and had an RBI at the plate.   

District A-3 Tournament: Game 2

 Kamira Botos had two hits including a double and a game ending 3 run homerun  to pace the Monarch hitters.  Botos added a stolen base, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI's.  Kloey Hamblen also doubles and hit her team leading 15th homerun of the season, scoring twice with 2 RBI's.  Presley Ivener and Alexa Taylor each had 2 hits with Taylor getting a double, and 2 RBI's, and Ivener adding a stolen base, scoring 3 times and driving in a run.  Peyton Hoelscher hit a triple and walked.  Avery Wolfe reach ed base on a walk, stole a base and scored a run.  Morgan Byrd had a hit and a stolen base.  Maizey Carpenter picked up the team's other hit.  

Carly Bertolini struck out 4 hitters in a complete game to earn the win in the circle.   

District A-3 Tournament: Game 3

Amanda Gibilisco threw a 2 hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead the Monarchs to their 31st consecutive state tournament.  Her 10th strikeout was the last hitter of the game.  

Morgan Byrd and Kloey Hamblen each had a double, a walk, a run and an RBI.  Maizey Carpenter had 2 hits, including a double, a walk and 2 runs scored.  Kamira Botos had a hit, a stolen base and a run scored.  Presley Ivener had a hit, a stolen base and an RBI.  Avery Wolfe reach base on a walk.  

This was the final home game for our outgoing seniors: Kamira Botos, Morgan Byrd, Kloey Hamblen, Peyton Hoelscher, Presley Ivener, Morgan Stock and Kaylee Tanuis.  

Nebraska Class A State Tournament - Game 1

Morgan Stock hit a grand slam homerun in a 7 run first inning, a solo homerun in the third inning, and also drove in a run with a sacrifice squeeze bunt as the Monarchs won their first game of the state tournament for the 30th year in a row.  Stock ended the game with 2 runs scored and 6 RBI's.  Avery Wolfe also hit a homerun, had a single, a stolen base, scored twice and had 2 RBI's.  Kamira Botos had 2 hits including a double, a walk, scored twice and had an RBI.  Morgan Byrd walked twice, stole a base and scored twice.  Alexa Taylor doubled and scored.  Maizey Carpenter and Kloey Hamblen each had a hit and scored once.  Presley Ivener had a hit and 2 RBI's.  Amanda Gibilisco had the teams other hit.  Peyton Hoelscher also scored a run.  

Carly Bertolini pitched a complete game for the win striking out 7 hitters.

Nebraska Class A State Tournament - Game 2

Alexa Taylor, Peyton Hoelscher and Kamira Botos each had 2 hits with Taylor and Hoelscher each scoring a run.  Kloey Hamblen hit a homerun.  Other hits by Maizey Carpenter and Morgan Byrd (doubles) and Presley Ivener.  Byrd scored the team's other run.  Avery Wolfe reach base on a walk.  RBI's by Carpenter, Ivener and Wolfe.  

Amanda Gibilisco struck out 7 hitters and took the loss in the circle.  Carly Bertolini had 1 strikeout pitching in relief.  

Nebraska Class A State Tournament - Game 3

Maizey Carpenter tied a school record with 4 hits in the game, including 2 homeruns with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI's.  Morgan Stock had 2 hits including her third homerun of the tournament, reached base on a hit by pitch, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBI's.  Avery Wolfe and Kloey Hamblen hit their second homeruns of the tournament.  Hamblen also hit a sacrifice fly to end the game with a run and 2 RBI's.  Wolfe had a run and an RBI.  Peyton Hoelscher had 2 hits and 2 runs scored.  Alexa Taylor had a double and 2 runs scored.  Morgan Byrd had a hit and reached base on a walk.  Kamira Botos and Presley Ivener had the team's other hits.  

Amanda Gibilisco 2 strikeouts and the win) and Carly Bertolini (4 strikeouts and the save) split the pitching duties.  

Nebraska Class A State Tournament - Game 4

Morgan Byrd tied the school record with 4 hits in a game for the second time this season, ending the game with a double, 3 singles, 2 runs and an RBI.  Peyton Hoelscher had 2 hits and an RBI.  Kloey Hamblen tripled, walked and had 2 RBI's.  Presley Ivener had a hit, a walk, a run and an RBI.  Morgan Stock and Kamira Botos had the team's other hits.  Maizey Carpenter walked, was hit by a pitch and scored twice.  

Carly Bertolini and Amanda Gibilisco shared the pitching duties with Gibilisco picking up 6 strikeouts and the win.  

Nebraska Class A State Tournament - Game 5

Kloey Hamblen had 3 hits, including a lead off triple in the bottom of the 7th inning , to go with her 3rd homerun of the tournament, had 2 RBI's and scored 3 runs, including the game winner.  She was driven home on a single by Kamira Botos who had 2 hits in the game, including a double and a run scored.  Morgan Stock hit her 4th homerun of the tournament and also doubled, scoring a run and had 2 RBI's.  Morgan Byrd had a hit, a stolen base and 2 runs scored.  Presley Ivener and Peyton Hoelscher each had a double, a walk and with Ivener picking up an RBI.  Alexa Taylor reach base on a hit and a walk.  Avery Wolfe also reached base on a walk.  Maizey Carpenter scored the teams other run.  

Amanda Gibilisco (2 strikeouts and the win) and Carly Bertolini (4 strikeouts) shared the pitching duties.  

Nebraska Class A State Tournament - Game 6 - Championship Game - State Champions

Avery Wolfe and Senior Presley Ivener each had three hits to pace a 13 hit attack to go with a 4-hitter and 7 strikeouts by pitcher Amanda Gibilisco as the Monarchs won their 17th Class A State Championship.  

Wolfe had 2 singles, a timely 2 run homerun, a stolen base, scored twice and had 2 RBI's, and made a diving catch on a line drive to center field.  Ivener had 2 singles and a double, scored 3 times and had 2 RBI's.  Senior Kloey Hamblen added a double, a sacrifice fly for an RBI and also scored once.  Maizey Carpenter had 2 hits, a walk, stole a base, scored once and had an RBI. Senior Morgan Byrd had a single, a walk, a stolen base, a run and an RBI.  Senior Peyton Hoelscher had a hit and an RBI.  Senior Kamira Botos had a hit, a walk and a run scored.  Alexa Taylor also doubled and scored.  Senior Morgan Stock had a run and an RBI.  

Shout out to Senior Kaylee Tanuis who entered the game in the final inning and made a running catch to her left on a long fly ball to center field for the final out of the game.
