August 11 / Split Squad Scrimmage Game
August 17 - Varsity / PLHS 13 - Omaha Burke 1
Gina Metzler and Sam Dellinger each had 3 hits and 2 RBI's each.  Alicia Baca had three hits
with an RBI.  Taylor Wachholtz and Kaylee Povich each had 2 hits and 2 RBI's.  Julia Andersen
and Amanda Butera also added 2 RBI singles.  Dellinger earned the win in the circle in her first
varsity game as the Monarchs won their season opener for the 19th time in the 20 years.  The Monarch
have never lost their home opener.

August 18 - Varsity / PLHS 1 - Millard West 9
Julia Andersen reached base three times and had the teams only hit, which was an RBI double.

August 21 - Varsity Game #1 / PLHS 11 - Lincoln East 0
Taylor Wachholtz went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's.  Sam Dellinger was 2 for 3 and also had 3 RBI's,
Kaylee Povich was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's.  Alicia Baca and Amanda Butera both hit a double.  Gina
Metzler added 3 stolen bases.  Dellinger earned the win in the circle with a 4-hit shutout.
 
August 21 - Varsity Game #2 / PLHS 12 - Lincoln East 6
Kaylee Povich went 4 for 5 with 4 RBI's.  Taylor Wachholtz also went 4 for 5 and had 2 RBI's. 
Gina Metzler and Julia Andersen had 3 hits each, with Sam Dellinger and Kylie Schwarting each
had 2 hits.  Andersen earned the win in the circle.
 
August 24 / PLHS 6 - Omaha Marian 0
Julia Andersen pitched a 3-hit shutout with 10 strike outs.  Sam Dellinger was 3 for 3 at
the plate with a double and an RBI.  Gina Metzler had two hits and two stolen bases, while
Taylor Wachholtz has 2 hits and an RBI. 
 
August 25 / PLHS 4 - Millard West 9
Sam Dellinger had two extra base hits with Julia Andersen, Taylor Wachholtz, and Jordan Kimball
each had 1 hit.
 
August 28 - Game #1 / PLHS 5 - Millard North 4
Taylor Wachholtz went 4 for 4 at the plate with 4 RBI's and 2 stolen bases.  Sam Dellinger had an
RBI single, and Gina Metzler, Julia Andersen and Kaylee Povich had our other hits. Lauren
McNeil added two sacrifices.  Dellinger and Andersen combined for the victory in the circle.
 
August 28 - Game #2 / PLHS 13 - Millard North 5
Gina Metzler went 4 for 5 with 3 stolen bases.  Taylor Waccholtz was 3 for 5 with 3 runs and
3 RBI's.  Alicia Baca added 2 hits including a triple, while Julia Andersen and Hayleigh Evans
each had 2 hits.  Kylie Schwarting and Emma Dargy had the our other hits.
 
August 29 / PLHS 16 - Omaha Bryan 0
Caity Vacanti hit a double and scored 3 runs.  Gina Metzler and Kylie Schwarting had
2 hits each.  The team's other hits were by Lauren McNeil, Emma Dargy, Taylor Wachholtz,
Julia Andersen, Sam Dellinger and Hayleigh Evans.  Andersen and Dellinger combined to
pitch a 1 hit shutout. 
 
September 1 / PLHS 5 - Ralston 0
Julia Andersen threw a 2 hit shutout with 7 strikeouts, and added 2 hits and an RBI. 
Gina Metzler had a base hit and 3 stolen bases.  Hayleigh Evans and Kylie Schwarting
also had 1 hit each. 
 
September 1 / PLHS 10 - Lincoln Pius X 5
Julia Andersen pitched in relief of Sam Dellinger and got the win.  Dellinger doubled
and tripled at the plate with 2 RBI's.  Taylor Wachholtz had 2 hits and 2 runs.  Emma
Dargy and Andersen each hit a triple.  Amanda Butera, Hayleigh Evans and Gina
Metzler each added 1 hit.
 
September 1 / Millard West 5 - PLHS 4
Taylor Wachholtz, Julia Andersen and Emma Dargy each had RBI singles.  Sam
Dellinger hit a double and scored the go ahead run.  The Monarchs were one out
and a bad hop single away from winning the Millard North Invitational and beating
the top rated and undefeated Wildcats.  It was a good tournament overall.
 
September 4 / PLHS 3 - Omaha Westside 0
Gina Metzling had 3 hits with 2 RBI's and Kylie Schwarting had 3 hits with 2 stolen
bases.  Sam Dellinger had a double, while Kaylee Povich, Amanda Butera, Julia
Andersen and Hayleigh Evans had the team's other hits.  Andersen pitched a
3-hit shutout for the win in the circle.
 
September 6 / PLHS 8 - Bellevue East 1
Julia Andersen had 3 hits including a 2 run homerun.  Kylie Schwarting and Emma
Dargy also had 3 hits, while Amanda Butera and Taylor Wachholtz each had 2 hits. 
Alicia Baca, Hayleigh Evans and Sam Dellinger had the other hits.  Dellinger earned
the pitching victory.
 
September 6 / PLHS 7 - Bellevue West 0
Julia Andersen, Amanda Butera, Taylor Wachholtz and Sam Dellinger all had 2 hits,
with Andersen throwing a shutout.  Gina Metzler, Hayleigh Evans, Kaylee Povich,
Alicia Baca and Kylie Schwarting had the team's other hits.
 
September 6 / PLHS 2 - Millard West 4
Sam Dellinger and Sara Sempek had the teams only hits.

Taylor Wachholtz, Kylie Schwarting and Emma Dargy had the team's only hits.
 
September 14 / PLHS 8 - Omaha Gross 1
Sam Dellinger pitched a 3 hitter and was also 3 for 3 with a double at the plate. 
Lauren McNeil hit a homerun, while Hayleigh Evans and Julia Andersen both had
2 hits.  Kylie Schwarting, Emma Dargy, Gina Metzler, Taylor Wachholtz and
Amanda Butera had the other hits.
 
September 14 / PLHS 6 - Lincoln Southeast 2
Emma Dargy hit a game ending grand slam homerun.  Julia Andersen added 2 hits. 
Gina Metzler, Taylor Wachholtz and Amanda Butera each had 1 hit. 
 
September 15 / PLHS 3 - Millard North 0
Julia Andersen pitched a 2 hit shutout.  Amanda Butera had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. 
Kylie Schwarting also had 2 hits and added 2 stolen bases.  Gina Metzler, Emma
Dargy and Taylor Wachholtz had the team's other hits. 
 
September 15 / PLHS 1 - Papillion-Lavista South 8
Amanda Butera had 2 hits including an RBI.  Gina Metzler and Hayleigh Evans
each had 1 hit. 
 
September 18 / PLHS 7 - Papillion-LaVista South 9
Taylor Wachholtz has 2 hits including a 3 run triple.  Sam Dellinger had 2 hits. 
Gina Metzler, Emma Dargy, Kylie Schwarting and Hayleigh Evans each had 1 hit.
 
September 22 / PLHS 11 - Lincoln Southwest 0
Julia Andersen was 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and 3 RBI's and pitched a 1
hit shutout.  Gina Metzler and Taylor Wachholtz each had 2 hits.  Sam Dellinger,
Alicia Baca, Emma Dargy and Kylie Schwarting added the team's other hits.
 
September 22 / PLHS 8 - Norfolk 0
Sam Dellinger went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's, and pitched a 4 hit
shutout.  Hayleigh Evans had 2 hits.  Gina Metzler, Taylor Wachholtz and Julia
Andersen had the team other hits. 
 
September 22 / PLHS 10 - Norris 2
The Monarchs won the Lincoln Southeast Invite with this victory.  Julia Andersen
got the win in the circle with a 3 hitter.  Taylor Wachholtz led a 13 hit attack with
3 hits and 3 RBI's.  Gina Metzler, Emma Dargy and Hayleigh Evans each had 2
hits.  Sam Dellinger hit a double, while Amanda Butera, Kylie Schwarting, and Alicia
Baca added 1 hit each. 
 
September 25 / PLHS 16 - Omaha North 0
Sam Dellinger pitched a 2 hit shutout.  Alicia Baca was 2 for 2 with 2 doubles.  Kylie
Schwarting was also 2 for 2 with a triple, while Dellinger was 2 for 2 with a double. 
Julia Andersen and Amanda Butera each had a double, with Kaylee Povich and Jordan
Kimball each had one base hit.  Senior Maddie Hoaglund hit a 2 run single for her first
varsity hit. 
 
September 27 / PLHS 8 - Omaha Central 2
Julia Andersen had 14 strikeouts and picked up the win for the Monarchs, while getting 1 hit
at the plate.  Amanda Butera was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's, and Kylie Schwarting was 2 for 3 with
an inside the park homerun and 2 RBI's.  Gina Metzler had 2 hits and 3 stolen bases. 
Hayleigh Evans also added two hits.  Sam Dellinger added a double. 
 
September 29 - Game #1 / PLHS 8 - Lincoln Southeast 0
Sam Dellinger pitched a 2 hit shutout, hit a 3 run homerun and her 15th double of the season. 
Hayleigh Evans, Taylor Wachholtz, and Julia Andersen added two hits each to lead the
Monarchs to the win.  Gina Metzler, Amanda Butera, Emma Dargy, and Alicia Baca
also had base hits. 
 
September 29 - Game #2 / PLHS 13 - Lincoln Southeast 0
Jen Andersen pitched a 1 hitter to complete a double header shutout sweep of the Knights. 
Sara Sempek hit a 2-run homerun, Emma Dargy had a 3 run triple, and Gina Metzler had
3 hits on the night to pace the Monarchs.  Kylie Schwarting and Taylor Wachholtz each
had 2 hits, while Hayleigh Evans, Sam Dellinger, and Jordan Kimball all had 1 hit.
 
October 2 - SENIOR NIGHT / PLHS 16 - Omaha South 1
It was Senior Night for our two seniors, Maddie Hoaglund and Taylor Wachholtz.
Sam Dellinger earned the win in the circle with a 3 hitter.  Kylie Schwarting had two hits
including a 3 run inside the park homerun.  Gina Metzler, Hayleigh Evans, and Kaylee
Povich each had two hits.  Amanda Butera, Taylor Wachholtz, Lauren McNeil, Caity
Vacanti, Taylor Hall, Kerri Wachholtz, and Julia Andersen added 1 hit apiece to complete
a balanced Monarch attack. 

The Monarchs completed the regular season with a 23-7 record.
 
October 4 - Districts / PLHS 9 - Columbus 1
Sam Dellinger earned the victory in the circle and contributed 2 hits including a two run
homerun.  Kylie Schwarting had 3 hits and 3 stolen bases.  Gina Metzler and Taylor
Wachholtz each had 2 hits, while Alicia Baca hit a double.  Julia Andersen and Hayleigh
Evans had the teams other hits. 
 
October 4 - Districts / PLHS 7 - Norfolk 1
The girls stole 12 bases in the game to tie the Class A state record for steals in one game, and stole
their 157th base of season to break the Class A single season record.  Julia Andersen had 2 hits
and pitched a 1 hitter.  Gina Metzler had 2 hits and 4 stolen bases.  Taylor Wachholtz had 2 hits
and 3 steals.  Sam Dellinger had 2 hits including a double and 2 RBI's.  Sara Sempek had a
double and Hayleigh Evans had the team's other hit. 
 
October 5 - Districts / PLHS 12 - Omaha Benson 2
Julia Andersen earned the pitching victory and added two hits including a triple and 4 RBI's.
Gina Metzler and Sam Dellinger each went 3 for 3 to lead the Monarch to the 2012 District A-5
Championship with the win over the Bunnies.  Amanda Butera and Kylie Schwarting each had two
hits including a double.  Taylor Wachholtz added two hits and Alicia Baca had the team's other hit. 

The Monarch's record is 26-7 heading into the state tournament.  This will be the 20th consecutive
year the Monarchs have qualified for the Nebraska State Softball tournament.  They are the only
school to qualify each year since high school softball began in the state of Nebraska. 
 
October 09 - Send Off To State
 
October 10 - State Tournament / PLHS 11 - Grand Island 6
Gina Metzler and Kylie Schwarting each had 3 hits, including a double by Kylie with 2 RBI's.
Amanda Butera and Alicia Baca had 2 hits each, with Taylor Wachholtz, Julia Andersen, Sam
Dellinger and Hayleigh Evans having the teams other hits.  Dellinger relieved Andersen in the
circle and earned the pitching victory.  This was the Monarchs 19th consecutive opening round
victory at the state tournament. 
 
October 11 - State Tournament / PLHS 10 - Omaha Benson 3
Amanda Butera and Hayeligh Evans led the Monarch attack with 3 hits a piece.  Julia
Andersen and Alicia Baca each had two hits.  Taylor Wachholtz, Sam Dellinger, Gina Metzler
and Emma Dargy had our other hits.  Andersen earned the victory in the circle. 
 
October 11 - State Tournament / PLHS 3 - Millard South 6
Gina Metzler and Taylor Wachholtz each had two hits.  Sam Dellinger hit a 2-run homerun and
had all 3 of the team's RBI's.  Amanda Butera and Alicia Baca added 1 hit each. 
 
October 12 - State Tournament / PLHS 5 - Papillion-LaVista South 7
Gina Metzler had 3 hits with Taylor Wachholtz and Julia Andersen adding 2 hits.  Amanda
Butera hit her first varsity homerun.  Hayleigh Evans and Alicia Baca had the teams other hits.
The Monarchs were one strike away from the victory and earning a spot in the finals in the 7th
inning.  They then fell behind by 4 runs and made a valiant come back effort.  They had the
tying run on 2nd base and the winning run at the plate but it wasn't to be this year. 

The Monarch finished the season with a 28-9 record, and won 13 games in a row going into the
last two games at the state tournament.  The team peaked at the right time and finished 3rd at
state for the second year in a row.  The team is losing only 2 seniors to graduation with 1 being
a starter, and should be among the favorites to contend for the state championship in 2013.
